Dr. Deepak Gupta is a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist associated with Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. He holds the privilege of being one of the few qualified Child & Adolescent psychiatrists in India. He is the founder director of “Centre for Child & Adolescent Wellbeing (CCAW)”, at Greater Kailash, New Delhi, which is an exclusive multi-speciality centre for emotional and social well-being of children, adolescents, young people, parents and families.
He has been a member of Working Group ‘Empowering the Disabled’ and ‘Adolescent Development’, for the XIth Plan (2007-2012), Govt of India. Later he was selected for the Donald Cohen fellowship at the 13th European Society for Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Conference at Florence, Italy. In 2007-2008, he was nominated for an honorary membership of the prestigious American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (USA). In 2009 he received the esteemed “Doctors Day Award” on Doctors Day and “Presidents Appreciation Award, 2010” from Delhi Medical Association (DMA) for his contribution to child mental health in community.
After completing his MD (Psychiatry) with honours from Manipal, he did his Residency at G. B. Pant Hospital and Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), New Delhi for few years. He then went to UK and did his specialization in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry from Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College, London. Later he was selected a Fellow, of International Institute of Child & Adolescent Mental Health (IICAMH), UK.
Dr. Gupta is a trained DAN protocol practitioner (Defeat Autism Now, Dallas, Texas, 2009) and MEDMAPS trained physician (Las Vegas, 2012). He has been using biomedical approaches with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders with promising results for the last 3 years. He is also a trained EMDR practitioner (EMDR Association USA & INDIA, 2009, 2010, 2011) and has been using EMDR with children and young people suffering from various psychological traumas and psychological problems.
Dr. Gupta has conducted workshops for teachers at various schools and colleges and has delivered lectures at various national and international conferences and symposiums for doctors and mental health professionals. He has actively voiced his opinions in various newspapers and TV Channels with regard to various issues of child and adolescent mental health. He has special interest in children with ASD, ADHD, Trauma, positive parenting and adolescent health. He is associated with various mental health organizations.
